Dr. Aronson is the founder, president, and CEO of PeriOptions. In addition to 34 years in academic medicine at the University of Chicago and Duke University, he was president of a private multihospital anesthesia service corporation and vice president for surgical drug development with the Medicines company. He earned an MBA with concentration in Health Sector Management at Duke University Fuqua School of Business. As Executive Vice Chairman for Anesthesiology at Duke, he focused on business development and strategic planning. Having written over 300 manuscripts, chapters, including 6 textbooks, he is a recognized expert in echocardiography, perioperative blood pressure risk, perioperative medicine, and healthcare strategy. He served on the FDA Anesthesia and Life Support Advisory Committee and Anesthetic and Analgesic Drug Products Advisory Committee. He is an elected fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiology, American Heart Association, American College of Chest Physicians, American College of Cardiology, American Society of Echocardiography and elected member of the Association of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists and Association of University Anesthesiologists. In 2017, he received an adjunct professor appointment from University College London and in 2019, he received the Outstanding Achievement Award for perioperative echocardiography from the American Society of Echocardiography. He was president of the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiology and founding trustee member of the National Board of Echocardiography. He is Chair for Evidence Based Perioperative Medicine-USA and serves on the board for the International Board of Perioperative Medicine. He serves on the board for Durham Boys and Girls Club of America.
